I’m trying to pick an online broker to make trades. I’ve been watching the markets for over six months now and finally want to pull the trigger and invest. My problem is I’m trying to figure if I go with an online broker (scottrade, etrade, schwab) or though a broker. My plan is to buy around $ 1,000 worth of shares and hold on to them for a while. E Trade and other services I’ve checked do not allow me to purchase a stock listed on the Taiwanese stock exchange. I am looking for an online broker that can.
Update: Scottrade does not offer this service, nor does E*Trade or any other of the major US online brokers that I’ve investigated.

If you buy stock through an online broker, and hold the shares throughout a full dividend cycle, do you receive a dividend distribution (assuming the company pays a dividend that cycle)? Thanks for your knowledgeable answers; I’ll award best answer.

Answer by Steve DYes…the registered owner as of the ex-dividend date gets the dividend payout regardless of how the shares were acquired.

If I am using Fidelity Investments for their broker services, would it be beneficial to also use their bank? What’re the gains? If there aren’t any, what bank would you suggest?

As a little extra question that I have, when I download the Fidelity business application for the online broker services, how can I put multiple partner information on it? Copies?

What is the best and cheapest online broker that offers the cheapest price in stocks and mutual funds? Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for which online broker I should choose, thanks!

Answer by SayWhatAgain!Scottrade has 7 dollar trades…everyone else is somewhere around 10 or so. I like Scottrade because there a little more personable and helpful.

I’m sure there’s a cheaper one out there, but the customer service alone is great.
