When I opened up my etrade account 1.5 years ago, they didn’t ask for any additional requirements. However, every other online brokerage I attempt to join asks me for my social security card and government ID. Has anyone else been required to do this?

What are the rules on day trading in a futures account? I understand that I have to have a minimum of 25,000 dollars in my account if I am a pattern day trader in a stock account. Does this same rule apply for a futures account?

The inability for their system to handle my sale order caused me a great deal of financial pain when options I purchased (signed agreements in place as a day trader and as an options trader) filled, and as the intra-day trading prices moved around I order a straight sale, no margins, not related to any spreads. Question by zoers: can an online broker varify that the state income is true when trying to get a margin account? any legal issue?
I know someone who has lied about their income in order to get a loan for margin. I know that by theory they could get in trouble legally. However, does this ever happen? are there ways for the online broker to see if that income statement is actually truthful? Are there any laws around lying about income for loans? Are they ever enforced?

Question by T E: How soon does your online broker update your daily account balance?
I am with the TD Waterhouse WebBroker, and I have generally wait AT LEAST till 10:30PM each day before my account is updated, including shares bought for the day, price paid, and closing price of the share bought for the day, and closing prices all shares held in the account.
I wonder if other online brokers will provide sooner account balance upate?
